NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson Hosts An Education Q&A with CEO, of PASS THE ROC, Jarrod Greene, and assist in Launching An Education Initiative at The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hudson County
(Jersey City, NJ - July 27, 2011) On Thursday, August 4th, 2011 NBA All-Star Kenny Anderson, in conjunction with the PASS THE ROC apparel brand and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Hudson County, will host “Don’t Pass on Education,” an interactive Q&A between Mr. Anderson, 160 youth and other NBA legends. “Today, I’m calling on our state and our families to recommit ourselves to ensuring the future of our children,” says PASS THE ROC, CEO, Jarrod Greene.
The event will kick off with a press conference and then the kids will receive autographed signed pictures of Mr. Anderson. “I want to equip students with skills and strategies that will help them in school and in life,” says Mr. Anderson. Professional athletes have so much to offer," he continued.
“Don’t Pass on Education” supports the established mentorship initiative Be Great! "Pass The Test…But Don’t Pass on Education”: which features an age appropriate mentorship program designed to counter low academic achievement, poor test scores and gang affiliation. Carefully chosen mentors will provide supplemental support in the areas of tutoring, test taking strategies, writing workshops through a pen pal program, etiquette grooming and a sports component that Mr. Anderson will oversee.

This launch is on the heels of a basketball clinic sponsored by Jarrod Greene, Ahmed Lago of PASS THE ROC and Mr. Kenny Anderson which took place on June 11, 2011 at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, NJ. The clinic afforded participants the opportunity to play basketball with Mr. Anderson, learn basketball skills, shooting techniques and enjoy a game between street basketball legends and NBA legends. Footage from this event as well as the star-studded mixer held later that evening will be incorporated into PASS THE ROC’s movie documentary and Kenny Anderson’s own reality series; both of which are in pre-production.
