Summer League Action at Mercer Park

The Summer Basketball League, supported by Hudson County Executive Thomas A. DeGise and the Board of County Commissioners, is open to youth from kindergarten through 12th grade. Summer League games are scheduled from Monday-Thursday for K-8th graders and Fridays for high schoolers. Games are played outdoors at Hoboken Housing Authority Basketball Court, outdoors at Mercer Park, outdoors at Washington Park, and in case of inclement weather, indoors at the Hoboken Boys & Girls Club. Registration is free but required prior to the first game.

The Boys & Girls Club's Basketball Travel Team Program has won 33 AAU State Championships. Our teams have placed 1st, 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 11th and 12th in the nation.

The Travel Team Program prides itself on the quality of the instruction our players receive. Our coaches provide the expertise and supervision that parents and their children desire. Parents have the confidence their children are being instructed by adults who are teaching them about life as well as basketball.

Triple Play: A Game Plan for the Mind, Body and Soul is a health and wellness program designed to empower young people to make informed decisions about their physical, mental, and social well-being. The goal of Triple Play is to improve our Club members' knowledge of healthy habits, good nutrition and physical fitness; increase the number of hours per day they participate in physical activities; and strengthen their ability to interact positively with others and engage in healthy relationships.

The innovative Academic Basketball Program, which is played during the winter months, encourages members to behave in school and develop their athletic skills. Fourth through eighth grade members score points in three ways: by submitting "behavior reward points" on point cards completed by their teachers from their respective schools, competing in learning challenges at the Club, and athletically in the basketball game.

The mission of ALL STARS is to get more young people on more teams with more playing time, while fostering a sense of belonging and building life skills and self-confidence. Boys & Girls Clubs of America (BGCA) has created year-round options (starting with Flag Football and Basketball Leagues) for Club members. Every kid and teen deserves a great experience and a chance to belong to a team.

ALL STARS is a high-quality health and wellness program supported nationwide by BGCA, with the goal of creating team sports experiences. We not only help players learn to love being on a team, but to love being a member of Boys & Girls Clubs.
